MB: Jom Shopping vouchers increased to RM200, total RM16.8 mln in allocation

SHAH ALAM, Jan 16 — The value of the Jom Shopping festive season vouchers has been increased to RM200 for each household, from RM100 previously, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Menteri Besar said that following the response received from senior citizens who have applied for the shopping vouchers, the state government has also increased the household income threshold for recipients from RM2,000 to RM,3000 a month.

He said the state administration anticipates 82,400 recipients in total for the programme, which is offered during the three main festive seasons, namely Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and Deepavali, with a total allocation of RM16.8 million.

“Recipients of the Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE) programme are also eligible to apply for the vouchers considering the current pressing situation in the cost of living.

“The support and efforts for improvement are expected to lessen the burden of the people and provide assistance to the less fortunate, in line with the state government’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said that the state government has allocated RM50 million for the Road Restoration Project, which would be implemented this year.

He said the effort, which involves the maintenance and widening of roads under the purview of the state administration, would be chaired state executive councillor for infrastructure and public amenities Izham Hashim.

Amirudin said that the state government would also continue its commitment to repairing, maintaining and upgrading public facilities in all of the state constituencies through the second phase of the Selangor Penyayang project.

He said each state constituency would receive an allocation of RM500,000 and the works are expected to begin at the end of February.

“The allocation would also include the construction of a Selangor Penyayang Community Complex (Kompleks Komuniti Selangor Penyayang) in each state constituency,” he added.
