SHAH ALAM, August 12 — Rapper turned politician Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, better known as Altimet, will be making his debut as a state assemblyman after winning the Lembah Jaya seat in the Selangor State Election, according to the unofficial results.

Syed Ahmad, who ran on the Pakatan Harapan ticket, garnered 26,116 votes compared to Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Sharifah Haslizah Syed Ariffin’s 19,409 votes, a majority of 6,707 votes.

The 45-year-old will be the first recording artist who transitioned into politics and was successfully elected as a representative in Selangor.

He has campaigned aggressively in his constituency, pledging to resolve all outstanding issues left by his predecessor Haniza Mohamed Talha, who left Parti Keadilan Rakyat following the infamous Sheraton Move in 2020.
