MB to oversee five key portfolios, Sze Han in charge of investment

SHAH ALAM, Aug 23 – Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is set to oversee five major portfolios in the new state administration, one less than in the previous term. 

Specifically, he will be in charge of land and natural resources; finance and economy; modernising and digitising government; strategic communications; and education and human capital development.

The only previous portfolio that Amirudin will not retain is disaster management, which will instead be handed over to Najwan Halimi. 

Najwan will also be in charge of youth and sports development; and entrepreneurship empowerment and creative economy. 

Amirudin said this when announcing the portfolios for Selangor’s new executive council at the state administrative building, here, today. 

The Selangor Pakatan Harapan chairman also announced that Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han has been appointed as the new executive councillor for trade and investment, a pivotal role previously held by DAP’s Dato’ Teng Chang Kim, who has since retired from politics and public service.

Ng will also oversee SME development and new economic districts; and Selangor mobility, while co-chairing the special committee of Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Sikh, and Tao Religions with V. Papparaidu and Ng Suee Lim. 

Meanwhile, senior state leader and Pandan Indah assemblyman, Izham Hashim, will return to his former role as the executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture, where he will oversee the development of state infrastructure as well as the modernisation of agriculture and farming.

Borhan Aman Shah, another executive councillor who returns for a second term, will retain his culture, heritage and Malay customs portfolio, while also being mandated to oversee the housing and development of sustainable cities committee.
