Expedited cooperation can realise more impactful state projects — MB

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, Oct 24 — Several state projects, especially under the First Selangor Plan (RS-1), can be expedited in collaboration with the Federal government, as they significantly impact the economy.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said these projects include the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (Idriss) initiative, the Sabak Bernam Development Area (Sabda) initiative, and the Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG) project.

On projects in the southern parts of the state, he said a third port will be developed on Pulau Carey, as announced in Budget 2024.

Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, is also discussing with Sime Darby about developing a logistics hub on 10,000 to 13,000 acres of land in the area.

“SMG covers 88,000 acres, making Sungai Klang a new development corridor. Several areas can be developed by integrating Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) networks.

“We have already identified several Sabda projects and partnerships, especially for fish landing sites at Sungai Lang, Sekinchan, and the tourism sector, in addition to developing agricultural parks,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking at the 2024 Selangor Budget town hall session with Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz in Kuala Lumpur earlier today.

He added the state government is also establishing the Selangor International Aero Park in Sepang, covering an area of 2,000 acres, as one of the economic zone’s branches.

Amirudin said the dialogue session aims to formulate a stronger state budget next year and align the state administration’s direction with the Federal government.
