Matta Fair: Selangor Pavilion records over RM1 mln in sales, highest ever

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, Oct 3 — A total of RM1.03 million in sales were recorded at the Selangor Pavilion during the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Fair last month.

Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Azrul Shah Mohamad said over 80,000 individuals visited the pavilion during the three-day exhibition beginning on September 1, surpassing its target by 10,000.

“The sales value is the highest recorded by Tourism Selangor throughout its 12 years of participation in the fair,” he said in a statement today.

This was aided by Tourism Selangor’s collaboration with GL Play by Gamuda Land as its strategic partner.

GL Play is a one-stop play place featuring the latest events and attractions around Gamuda Land townships, including Splashmania Waterpark, Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands, and Discovery Park.

Azrul added that Tourism Selangor’s campaign strategy during the recent fair, themed Nak Bercuti? Pusing Selangor Dulu! (Want to go on vacation? Explore Selangor first!) also helped to attract more visitors to the pavilion.

The campaign featured, among other things, a meet and greet session with its ambassador and celebrity Che Puan Juliana Evans.

Meanwhile, Matta president Nigel Wong said its latest travel fair featured several new strategies to stimulate domestic tourism involving states and hotel operators.
