Exco: State supports, encourages artists focused on heritage, local culture

KLANG, Nov 26 — The State Government is always ready to be a hub, or centre that allows artists the opportunity to highlight  local culture.

State executive councillor for rural and traditional villages development, Malay customs, culture and heritage Borhan Aman Shah said that to realise that wish, he called on the local authorities to provide support both in terms of allocations for local cultural performances or programs that have local art and culture groups to be highlighted.

“Selangor is rich in the uniqueness of traditional arts whether in the fields of music, dance, theatre, martial arts and traditional food.

“Therefore, the State Government always provides support and assistance to all local authorities in making these cultural and heritage programs a success,” he said.

He said this while speaking at the opening ceremony of the Klang Royal City Heritage Festival 2023 organized by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) at Kota Raja Stadium, here last night.

Commenting further, Borhan explained that the organization of the heritage festival is very good because it sees various layers of society of various races being brought together.

“Programs like this can reflect the image of MPK as a local authority that not only provides quality services but also social services to the community,” he said.
