SHAH ALAM, Jan 23 — The state government’s four-day retreat in Sabah is crucial to gather insights from experts in the relevant fields to ensure policies that cater to citizens’ well-being can be implemented.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said this in an X (formerly known as Twitter) post yesterday on the ongoing retreat and working visit to Kota Kinabalu involving the state executive councillors.

“This session is vital as we engage in a thorough discussion and listen attentively to presentations from experts regarding the economy, development, and well-being of the people.

“InsyaAllah, we will also pay a courtesy visit to the Sabah state government,” he said.

The four-day retreat, which began on Sunday (January 21), is meant to assess the progress of the state’s First Selangor Plan (RS-1), among several key discussions, according to state executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Najwan Halimi.

Yesterday, he said the gathering will also emphasise enhancing the efficiency of each state government portfolio.

Meanwhile, state executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari said the retreat primarily focuses on planning and enhancing the respective state leadership portfolios towards a more holistic and inclusive development in Selangor.

“In the spirit of the Unity Government, the state executive councillors and agencies will strive to ensure the progress, prosperity, and welfare of all segments of society.

“We are committed under the leadership of the Selangor Menteri Besar to enhance collaboration for the state’s well-being and development,” she said on X.

The retreat was also attended by State Secretary Datuk Haris Kasim, as well as other senior officers and representatives of state agencies.

This is the first retreat to be held since the formation of the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional state government following the conclusion of the Selangor State Election in August last year.
