Visit Selangor Year 2025: State ‘flying out’ to get tourists in

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, Jan 5 – The state is intensifying promotional efforts this year ahead of the Visit Selangor Year 2025, with plans to organise visits to several countries aimed at attracting more tourists.

State executive councillor for tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said at the local level, his team will be adorning the exterior walls of Smart Selangor buses with images showcasing attractive locations in the state for publicity.

“The process is carried out in stages, starting with 15 buses. In total, it will involve about 60 buses. We will display interesting spots including water theme parks, paddy fields and waterfalls.

“Several overseas visits are also being lined up to establish cooperation (with foreign governments and industry players), including to Indonesia and India.

“Next week, 40 tourism entrepreneurs from Thailand will also visit Anjung Utara,” he said, referring to the northern region of Selangor.

Ng also expressed optimism about the state’s promotional efforts, expecting the number of visitors to Selangor to reach six million throughout this year.

This follows the success of its tourism campaigns, namely the ‘Nak Bercuti? Pusing Selangor Dulu!’ for the domestic segment and ‘Splendid Selangor, Take Me Anywhere!’ for the global audience.

“Last year, Selangor recorded five million visitors, and we expect to add another million this year. We are accelerating (efforts) to publicise and promote the state,” he said when contacted.

Last September, Ng had announced that 2025 will be declared a Visit Selangor Year as part of the state government’s effort to bolster the tourism industry.

The increased focus on promotion and collaboration is anticipated to contribute significantly to the tourism landscape in Selangor.
