SHAH ALAM, April 24 — The state government is optimistic about attracting companies from Germany to invest in Selangor, in addition to exploring opportunities to expand the local company network to the country.
This was discussed by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari in a meeting with the Malaysian Ambassador to Germany Datin Paduka Adina Kamarudin during the Hannover Messe industrial technology trade fair yesterday.
During the meeting, she also expressed her readiness to facilitate proceedings.
“Datin Paduka also expressed the readiness of her team in Germany, including government agencies like the Malaysian Investment Development Authority and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, to facilitate proceedings for cooperation between Selangor and Germany.
“I extend my appreciation and thanks to Datin Paduka Adina Kamarudin and all the Foreign Ministry personnel in Germany,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.
On Monday (April 22), the Selangor state government was Malaysia’s sole representative to attend Hannover Messe’s opening ceremony. It is Germany’s leading conference and exhibition of mechanical and electrical engineering technology in the world.
Held at the Hannover Congress Centrum, the ceremony was attended by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, European Commission President Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen, and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
Leading the state delegation, Amirudin also participated in a forum with three other Southeast Asian delegations to discuss government and industry cooperation to advance sustainability goals in Asean.
He presented the state government’s plans and challenges in its efforts to lead in technical and vocational education and training sectors, as well as sustainable development in Southeast Asia.
