DPM says GE14 not this September

SHAH ALAM, JUL 17: The Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi reportedly said that the 14th General Election (GE14) will not be held in September.
He said that in his speech during the Umno Aidilfitri Open House at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
“It (September) is too early, it (GE14) will be held after that,” he said, as reported by MalaysiaKini and quoted from Channel News Asia.
Speculations are rife on the date of the GE14 since early this year with many expecting it to be after Aidilfitri celebrations.
The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak has until August 2018 to dissolve Parliament and make way for GE14.
Many analysts predicted that Najib will hold the election in September as Kuala Lumpur will be hosting the SEA Games in the same month.
The Chinese Prime Minister, Xi Jinping is also scheduled to visit Malaysia in October.
