SHAH ALAM – A total of 515 Indians from the Batu Tiga State Assembly (DUN) received the Deepavali Jom Shopping voucher which will be celebrated on October 27.
Exco of Entrepreneur Development, Rural Development, Village and Traditional Village, Rodziah Ismail said the program was focusing on recipients under the age of 60.
According to Rodziah, recipients 60 years and older will receive the Mesra Usia Emas Scheme Jom Shopping Voucher.
“This year, there is an increase in recipients for the Batu Tiga constituency compared with 350 last year, in line with the increasing number of Indian voters here,” she said.
The Batu Tiga State Assemblyman said the RM100 voucher given for all three festivals in the state was one of the products of the Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat (IPR) programme to help ease the burden and help the people prepare for the festival.
“The joy of the recipient is reflected on their faces, especially as most of the recipients brought their family with them to together buy the essentials needed,” she said.
“This is what we want to see. It is proof that the state government is always concerned about the welfare of the people, especially the poor.”
