PETALING JAYA, July 6 — The new Selangor Deputy Speaker will be revealed on July 13, says the Selangor Menteri Besar.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the announcement will be made during the opening of the Selangor Legislative Assembly sitting, which is scheduled to convene next Monday.

He stressed that the appointment will not be based on gender or racial bias.

“The appointment was decided following thorough discussions with state top leadership. Whether it is a male or female, that is not an issue… the same goes with the racial background,” said Amirudin after the Team Selangor (TS) Cares programme at the Petaling Jaya City Council, here, on Saturday.

Also present were Kota Damansara state assembly Shatiri Mansor TS coordinating officer Ahmad Bakrin Sofawi Abu Bakar.

The post of Deputy Speaker of the Selangor Legislative Assembly was left vacant following the resignation of Dr Daroyah Alwi, who quit PKR on June 13.
