40 evacuated due to floods in Kuala Kubu Bharu

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 4 — Forty people from four villages in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Hulu Selangor have been evacuated after their houses were affected by floodwaters following incessant rain since early yesterday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Norazam Khamis said the evacuees were part of the 190 individuals who live in Kampung Sekolah, Kampung Masjid, Kampung Paya Lebar and Kampung Sungai Nilam.

He said they were moved out from the villages to the relief centre in Kampung Sungai Selisek hall at about 4pm.

“Some of the flood victims have moved to the homes of relatives,” he said in a statement.
