Indonesia reports new record high in daily Covid cases

JAKARTA, Jan 31 — Indonesia recorded 14,518 new Covid-19 infections, making it the highest number of daily cases to date since the first case was detected on March 2, 2020.

According to data posted on the Indonesian government’s official website on Covid-19, covid19.go.id, the overall number of cases in the republic has now increased to 1,066,313 cases while the number of recovered patients was 862,502.

For the period 12 noon Saturday until 12 noon yesterday, a total of 210 deaths were recorded, bringing the overall death toll to 29,728.

Jakarta remains the province with the highest number of infections, namely, 266,244 cases while East Java province has recorded the highest number of deaths at 7,754.
