Ampang police station back in operation

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 — The Ampang Police Station has resumed offering services to the public as of yesterday evening.

Ampang Jaya District Police chief ACP Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the station was now open to the public for filing reports and applying for cross-district or state travel.

“This action was taken after a comprehensive sanitisation process was carried out at the Ampang Police Station as well as all the divisions at the Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD),” he said in a statement.

Mohamad Farouk said operations at the station were previously suspended to give way to the sanitisation works as well as due to staff being quarantined.

The media previously reported that 11 policemen at the station were detected positive for Covid-19, while a number of other personnel and civil servants were instructed to undergo self-quarantine.

The infection was found to have been spread by several detainees at the station.
