Minimum charges on vaccines for factory, construction workers

By Mustakim Ramli

SHAH ALAM, April 23 — Manufacturing and construction sector workers will be charged to receive vaccines purchased by the Selangor government.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the charges rate will be at minimum or cost price to cover for the purchase of the vaccines.

“I do not think this is an obstacle for companies to pay, in fact, we are getting bookings for the early stages (of the vaccination programme).

“All this will be announced after the vaccines supply is received which is expected to be in June,” he said at the Mahabbah Ramadan ceremony with the state civil servants at the Jubli Perak hall here today.

Amirudin said five types of vaccines are being considered and the selection is still being discussed.

The state government plans to buy between three to five million doses of vaccine to curb the spread of Covid-19 with an allocation of about RM100 million.

The proposal is to meet the needs of the locals as well as foreign workers as there are many factories located in the state.
