Rising crime, Sentosa rep wants more police force

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, May 6 — The government is urged to increase the number of policemen at the Taman Sentosa police station following the recent increase in criminal cases.

Sentosa state assemblyman Dr G Gunarajah said equipment facilities at the station also need to be improved to cater for the high density of population in the area that has more than 150,000 residents.

“There’s only one police station in Sentosa with only three to four policemen on duty at a time.

“I also found out that this station is not equipped with patrol cars which makes it difficult for the policemen to do surveillance. Therefore, these two aspects should be given special attention in reducing the crime rate,” he told SelangorKini.

Meanwhile, he said although the number of policemen is low, the existing officers were always ready in providing their service.

“The lack of numbers is not an obstacle for them to carry out crime prevention activities and we also support the policemen in preventing any misconduct in the area,” he said.
