Automatic water bill exemption, need no application

By Siti Rohaizah Zainal

SHAH ALAM, Jan 5 — An automatic exemption of this month’s water bills will be given to flood victims and it is unnecessary for them to apply, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the exemption would help to reduce flood victims’ burden.

“The full list of locations involved can be found on Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd’s (Air Selangor) official website. All of the residents in the listed locations will get the exemption,” Amirudin said on Facebook.

Yesterday Air Selangor said it will provide the exemption for January’s bill to Domestic account users (Tariff Code 10) in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, who were affected by the floods.

In a statement, it said the exemption is part of the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) programme announced by the state government.

On December 21, the Selangor government allocated RM100 million in funds for BSB, following the flood incident in several districts at the end of last year.

Apart from infrastructural recovery, the initiative also covers the exemption of a one-month water bill for affected consumers.
