Selangor remains solvent despite claims otherwise — MB

KUALA SELANGOR, July 3 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has emphasised that Selangor will not go bankrupt from introducing various initiatives for the people’s welfare.

He said a credible and transparent administration has enabled the state to generate more than its targeted income, despite numerous assistances extended to the public.

“Our program has always been accused by Umno and BN of bankrupting Selangor. That is their claim, doing that will lead to bankruptcy, doing Jom Shopping will lead to bankruptcy, and doing cattle sacrifices (such as for Hari Raya Aidiladha) will lead to bankruptcy.

“We have proven it otherwise with a transparent and responsible administration with integrity. If they want to check or investigate, then please do so. There are no restrictions as we uphold this principle,” Amirudin said.

The Menteri Besar added that through integrity, this transparency has enabled the state government to give back to the people.

“We are able to generate income and provide various initiatives including Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (Bingkas), free health screening, and more,” he said.

Amirudin, who is also Selangor PKR state leadership council chairman, was speaking at the Jelajah Harapan Selangor roadshow in Padang Kampung Permatang, Tanjung Karang yesterday.

On June 19, he said the state’s financial reserves stand at a comfortable level of over RM3 billion despite Selangor facing disasters including the Covid-19 pandemic and extraordinary floods late last year.
