Flash flood victims in Segamat rise slightly

JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 4 — The number of flood victims in Segamat district increased slightly to 42 people as of 8 this morning, compared to 36 people yesterday evening.

The District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) in a statement said that two temporary evacuation centres (PPS) are still operating to accommodate residents affected by the overflow of Sungai Muar, since Wednesday.

“The two PPS that are still open are Balai Raya Kampung Batu Badak and Balai Raya Kampung Kuala Paya.

“Meanwhile, the affected areas involve residents from Kampung Seberang Batu Badak, Kampung Batu 5 and Kampung Kuala Paya,” it said in the statement.

The weather in Johor is reported to be sunny at the moment, while it is cloudy in some districts namely Mersing, Segamat, Batu Pahat and Kulai.
