42 flood-affected families in Klang evacuated to relief centre

SHAH ALAM, Nov 10 — 42 flood-affected families in Klang have been transferred to a temporary relief centre (PPS) at Sekolah Kebangsaan Johan Setia Klang following heavy rain yesterday.

According to the Info Bencana JKM website, 142 adults, 45 children and a baby have been evacuated out of a total of 187 victims as of this morning.

Yesterday, Bernama reported that about 200 houses were affected by the flash floods that hit Kampung Johan Setia, Klang.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said according to the preliminary report, the water level had risen to over two feet (0.6 metres) following the heavy rain. However, the water level receded a few hours later.

He said the operation to evacuate flood victims is ongoing and 30 people from eight houses have been relocated to the PPS.
