SHAH ALAM, Nov 20 — Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has defeated former Federal minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali in Gombak by a majority of 12,729 votes.
In the five-cornered fight, Amirudin, who is also the Selangor Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) chairman, won by a landslide of 72,267 votes, while the incumbent garnered 59,538 votes.
On Twitter, he gave thanks to Allah SWT for his victory.

On November 5, Amirudin, who is also the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (Keadilan) vice-president, was announced as the second candidate for the parliamentary seat by the Election Commission, facing off against four other contenders.
The other candidates include Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin on the Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket, Datuk Dr Aziz Jamaludin Mhd Tahir on the Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) ticket, and independent candidate Zulkifli Ahmad.
In a follow-up Tweet, he thanked Gombak residents for enabling him to win the seat with such a large majority.
“I thank Gombak’s voters, the Election Commission personnel, as well as Harapan’s election machinery and its volunteers. This is an honourable victory for Gombak!” Amirudin said.
As of 4.20am today, Harapan has obtained 82 seats while Perikatan Nasional has 73 seats, Barisan Nasional with 30 seats, Gabungan Parti Sarawak with 22 seats, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah with six seats, Parti Warisan with three seats, and three seats held by Independent candidates.
