MBSJ allocates over RM13 mln to build, upgrade infrastructure

SHAH ALAM, Jan 11 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has allocated RM13.46 million for new construction projects as well as upgrading and renovating existing infrastructure.

Its Mayor Dato’ Johary Anuar said the expenditure covers RM500,000 to upgrade the community halls followed by traffic lights and parks (RM5.28 million), roads (RM2.75 million) and drains (RM3.05 million).

He also said as much as RM350,000 has been allocated for projects to improve and beautify recreational parks followed by sports courts (RM387,000) and public toilets (RM150,000).

“We are responding to the local government development minister’s (Nga Kor Ming) recommendation that all local authorities maintain all public toilets, keeping it beautiful and clean.

“Hence, in order to achieve an inclusive and sustainable local authority, MBSJ has planned various infrastructure projects and continuous maintenance so that all facilities are in good condition,” said the Mayor during a live broadcast of the Subang Jaya Coffee Talk programme on MBSJ’s Facebook yesterday.

Johary added that as much as RM49.49 million has been allocated for planned infrastructure development this year.

He said RM3.9 million from the amount is for road maintenance followed by drains and ditches (RM5.5 million), leisure and parks (RM8.5 million), street and park lightings (RM6 million) as well as road assets (RM3.5 million).

“A total of RM3.5 million is for the maintenance of electrical equipment followed by community involvements (RM3 million) and other maintenances such as upgrading disabled facilities worth RM100,000,” he said.
