State government allocates RM800,000 to upgrade bunds to avoid flooding at Sungai Tengi

SABAK BERNAM, Jan 15 — The Selangor government has allocated RM800,000 to upgrade broken bunds at Jalan Kilang Padi in Sungai Tengi.

State executive councillor for infrastructure Izham Hashim said the project will use special blocks, which are ‘Styrofoam’ blocks, with the aim to stabilise the bunds from bursting again.

These bunds often break whenever there is a flood, so we decided to repair them to make them stronger. The project is expected to be fully completed by the end of this month,” he told SelangorKini.

Yesterday, Izham inspected the beach reclamation work along the coast of Pantai Sungai Kajang Lama to prevent high tide overflow.

He said it is one of the short-term measures to overcome flood problems in the area.

“The state government has also drawn up a long-term plan that will be implemented immediately to avoid flooding there,” he said.
