SHAH ALAM, March 11 — Thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds are expected to hit four Selangor districts until 10pm today, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 6.25pm on Facebook, the agency said that inclement weather is anticipated for Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang.

“Other states to see similar bad weather are Perak (Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta and Perak Tengah), Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

“Meanwhile, stormy weather is also forecasted for East Malaysia, covering Sarawak: Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), as well as Sibu (Kanowit) and Kapit (Song and Bukit Mabong), ” it said.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
