Sabak Bernam is once again a yellow zone

SHAH ALAM, May 11 — The Sabak Bernam district has slipped from a green zone to a yellow zone after one new Covid-19 case was reported in the Pasir Panjang township yesterday.

Sabak Bernam was declared as the second green zone district in Selangor on Saturday after recording zero active Covid-19 cases.

Following the total of eight new cases registered in the state, the Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) said another two townships have been declared a yellow zone as well, namely Rasa and Hulu Kelang.

However, the task force said the Sabak Bernama and Sepang districts each recorded only one active Covid-19 case, which includes the Labu township under Sepang.

“So far, the two districts (Sabak Bernam and Sepang) are close to being declared as a green zone. Continue to observe the modified conditional movement control order (MCMCO),” STFC wrote on Facebook yesterday.

The task force had also advised the public to be alert of those who are asymptomatic carriers of Covid-19.

“These are the people who test positive for Covid-19 but do not show any symptoms.

“They may be in close distance without us realising it. That is why preventive measures such as social distancing, good personal hygiene and wearing face masks are important to protect ourselves,” it added.

According to the statistics provided by the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre of the Selangor State Health Department, the five other districts classified as yellow zones in the state are Hulu Langat with 32 active cases, Klang (15), Kuala Selangor (13) Hulu Selangor (9), and Sepang (1).

Selangor has two districts categorised as red zones, which includes Gombak and Petaling with 71 and 60 active cases respectively.

Kuala Langat is currently the only green zone district in the state since May 7.

As of yesterday noon, a total 1,604 Covid-19 positive cases were reported in Selangor, with 202 active cases.

The state had recorded 1,340 recoveries and 20 deaths due to the infection.
