EMCO: 69 residents in Taman Murni tested positive for Covid-19

SHAH ALAM, July 4 — Sixty-nine residents at Taman Murni, Sepang, which have been placed under the enhanced movement control order, were found Covid-19 positive.

Sepang district officer Mohamad Zain A Hamid said the results were obtained from the screening of half of the residents in the area or 707 individuals.

“The results of another 747 residents is not available yet and we expect that we will be receiving their results soon.

“Those who were tested negative will be given the vaccine to curb the spread of the infection. The total number of recipients has not been finalised,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Zain had also welcomed the contribution of food aid for the residents as they are not allowed to leave the area.

“As of now, they do not face food supply problems but we welcome those who would like to contribute,” he said.

Taman Murni was imposed under the EMCO for 14 days from June 30 after 36 Covid-19 infections were detected within a week with a high infectivity rate.

The enforced EMCO would facilitate the screening operation, isolation of cases and close contacts as well as restrict the movement of people in and out of the area.
