SHAH ALAM, Aug 23 — The ramping up of the Covid-19 immunisation exercise in Selangor by the Federal and state governments has led to the state registering the highest daily vaccination rate.

Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj said the recent figure registered is in line with the state’s population density and the high number of cases.

Apart from the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK), His Royal Highness said the state initiative, Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax), complements the Federal government’s efforts to speed up the inoculation process of the people of Selangor.

“The state had introduced the programme to increase the vaccination rate in Selangor as well as protect the state’s economy, which contributes almost 25 per cent to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).

“I am confident that both PICK and Selvax would be beneficial for the people of Selangor,” said His Royal Highness in his royal address during the opening of the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 14th Selangor State Legislative Assembly, here, which was also broadcast live on Media Selangor’s Facebook today.

Sultan Sharafuddin said as of August 13, a total of 5,874,162 vaccine doses have been administered to the people of Selangor under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) since it kicked off on February 24.

“This means 77.64 per cent of the adult population have received at least their first doses while 46.05 per cent are fully vaccinated. A total of 276,926 doses were also delivered through the Selvax,” he said.
