SHAH ALAM, Aug 26 — Another Rumah Idaman affordable housing project will be built in Salak Selatan, Sepang by the fourth quarter of this year.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said details of the project involving 1,400 units of homes including its developer and design will be announced soon.

“In a month or two we will launch the Rumah Idaman project in Salak Selatan or Cyber South that will construct 1,400 units. This shows a very positive development after two and a half years of burdens caused by Covid-19.

“If it wasn’t for the pandemic, some projects could be completed early, nevertheless we can still complete them according to schedule.

“By 2025, an estimated 6,000 units of Rumah Idaman will be built excluding the Rumah Harapan,” he said today.

Earlier, he had officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for Rumah Idaman Bukit Jelutong here, which was attended by Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB) chief executive officer Raja Ahmad Shahrir Raja Salim.

Amirudin said they received encouraging responses for Rumah Idaman, especially from B40 and M40 income groups.

“The Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) informed that the Rumah Idaman Bukit Jelutong, which commenced in April had received almost 6,000 applications.

“So in terms of demand and market, this is good and shows it has high quality. Now the project has gone through planning permission as well as the development plan process and is now being developed,” he added.

Developed by Gagasan Nadi Cergas and Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB), the Rumah Idaman Bukit Jelutong affordable housing project comprises 1,260 units of partially-furnished houses. The selling price for each unit is set at RM250,000.

Each unit comes with three bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as a television set, a refrigerator, kitchen cabinet, built-in wardrobe, water heaters, an air-conditioner and two parking lots.

Other facilities include a swimming pool, gymnasium, multipurpose hall, badminton court, kindergarten, reading room, playground, jogging track and rooftop garden.

Rumah Idaman has been included as one of the state government’s initiatives under the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP) to help low-income families (B40) to own comfortable houses.

As of June, a total of 31 projects comprising 78,182 house units have been approved for construction.
