Selangor civil servants to get salaries tomorrow to ease GE15 voting — MB

By Nasuha Badrul Huzaini

SHAH ALAM, Nov 16 — State government civil servants will receive their salaries tomorrow, two days ahead of the ongoing 15th general election’s (GE15) polling day which is scheduled for Saturday November 19.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the early salary payment is aimed at facilitating voters in planning their journey back to their hometowns to cast their ballots.

“The state government has decided to make an advance salary payment to Selangor civil servants tomorrow (November 17). May this ease all affairs,” he said on Twitter today.

On November 9, Amirudin declared a state public holiday on Friday, November 18, to enable people in Selangor to go out and vote on the polling day.

GE15 will see a record 21.18 million eligible voters, including 1.4 million Malaysians aged between 18 and 20 taking part in their first-ever general election.

This comes after the voting age was lowered from 21 to 18 with the passing of the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2019 by the Dewan Rakyat on July 16, 2019, enabling those within that age bracket to vote in Federal and state elections.
