State education sector has potential to expand via Yayasan Selangor — MB

KLANG, April 8 — Selangor is committed to ensuring the local education sector will continue to grow, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He was speaking with regard to the State Education Standing Committee’s management, which was fully handed over to Yayasan Selangor, and which he believes will lead to its success.

“I hope Yayasan Selangor becomes an important educational institution both in Malaysia and in Selangor. The implementation of the state education committee will be carried out by the foundation, due to its great potential in expanding the education sector.

“This is evident with the presence of students here, in the half-century since Yayasan Selangor’s establishment, despite various contemporary educational challenges including the (Covid-19 pandemic) movement control orders and syllabus changes,” Amirudin said.

During the tabling of the 2023 Selangor Budget on November 25 last year, the Menteri Besar said Yayasan Selangor would take over full management of the State Education Standing Committee beginning this year, so as to consolidate Selangor’s education management’s potential and performance.

He added the foundation will act as a lead agency, as well as regulate the committee, in line with the Selangor Economic Planning Unit.
