Support party that upholds people’s welfare, reject hate politics — Megat

By Zareef Muzammil

GOMBAK, July 31 — Selangor voters are urged to support the party that can defend the welfare of the people and reject hate politics that can undermine the harmony of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the people, Selangor Umno chief Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin said that the public is also tired of the insults directed at the state’s top leadership.

“There should be wisdom in politics that offers solutions to the people. The people do not want to hear jokes of those who only know how to insult and criticise the top leadership of the state.

“Do not allow dirty and extreme hatred to take root in Selangor. We are a sovereign land, and we have a way of choosing our leaders and celebrating democracy,” he said at the Jelajah Madani ceramah event here last night.

The Unity candidate for the Gombak Setia state seat stressed that each vote from the Selangor counts.

“Understand the importance of your vote on August 12. The votes will not only determine who wins or loses, but it will also shape the future of the people of Selangor itself,” he said.

Megat will face a three-cornered fight against Perikatan Nasional’s Muhammad Hilman Idham and Independent candidate Mohamed Salim Mohamed Ali.

The nomination day for the Selangor state election candidates, as well as those in five other states and the Kuala Terengganu by-election, took place on July 29. The voting day is scheduled for August 12, with early voting on August 8.
