State polls: Lodging issue for FRU team in Port Klang due to miscommunication — IGP

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 — The Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has denied allegations of poor lodging provided for security forces on duty during the state elections, which have gone viral on social media.

He said a miscommunication has led an officer of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) to the old Port Klang Police barracks, which is located in the same area as the actual accommodation.

“The actual barrack provided for the FRU personnel who are on duty on polling day this Saturday is at the Port Klang Police Station. They will not spend the night there, it is for them to rest and pray only. There is also a surau, as well as facilities such as beds and fans for their comfort.

“Since the TikTok video uploaded by the FRU member has gone viral on social media, I went straight to the Port Klang Police Station to investigate,” Razarudin said during a special press conference at Bukit Aman earlier today.

He said he has instructed the FRU commander to identify the individual responsible for uploading the video while assuring the accommodation provided for the security personnel is comfortable and equipped with facilities.

Meanwhile, on the application made by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to include two individuals, including the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Muhammad Adlan Berhan, 48, on the International Police (Interpol) Red Notice, Razarudin said the police are ready to assist MACC.

Yesterday, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said MACC will apply for an Interpol Red Notice against Muhammad Adlan and Mansoor Saat, 69, who are believed to have fled the country following allegations of corruption and embezzlement in the registration, recruitment and biometric storage of foreign workers in a ministry.
