EU gives one mln euros to quake-hit Morocco for humanitarian relief

BRUSSELS, Sept 11 — The European Union is to provide €1 million (RM5.01 million) to Morocco to support relief efforts in areas affected by the recent earthquake, the European Commission announced on Monday, reported the German News Agency (dpa).

“As the EU stands in solidarity with the Moroccan people, we are releasing a funding of €1 million to help meet the urgent needs of the population,” EU Crisis Commissioner Janez Lenarčič said in a statement.

“The EU remains ready to assist Morocco in any way necessary during this difficult period,” he added.
