Selangor launches multi-agency data-sharing platform

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 — Selangor launched its Selangor Government Data Exchange (SelGDX) portal today, an integrated data-sharing platform operating across state agencies and the public sector.

This makes it the first state in Malaysia to develop a cross-agency data-sharing platform.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said SelGDX’s development involved over 70 government departments and agencies within Selangor, with over 30 application programming interfaces (APIs).

“We hope with this portal, all non-sensitive data can be shared, and users can access the data without having to register with the department or seek permission from any department,” he told the press after launching the portal at the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC 2023) today.

Amirudin added the portal began operating last Friday (October 13), and facilitates more secure, faster, and accurate data sharing and processing, as well as fostering more efficient and transparent use of technology and good governance.

Besides facilitating the sharing, access and processing of safe, fast and accurate data, the system also fosters the use of technology alongside good, efficient, and transparent governance practices.

SelGDX is jointly implemented by the state government’s Information Management Division, the State Secretary’s Office and strategic partner TM One, Telekom Malaysia’s business, enterprise, and public sector solutions unit.

The collaboration includes designing, installing, developing, integrating, testing, commissioning, maintaining, and providing support services throughout the project’s development.
