SHAH ALAM, Nov 10 — The Early Childhood Care and Education Caretaker programme (Impak Selangor) in the state will be fully implemented next year, said state executive councillor for women’s development Anfaal Saari.
She said it offers training or courses for childcare providers, focusing on caregivers with no more than four charges.
“The programme is for the benefit of unregistered home caregivers. Through it, they are assisted with courses which offer professional skills.
“Home caregivers also need caregiving skills, which are crucial to ensure these children are looked after properly, thereby ensuring their safety,” Anfaal said.
Speaking to SelangorKini during a special interview at her office in the State Secretariat Building yesterday, she said daycare opening guidelines will also be established to facilitate applications.
The Taman Templer state assemblyman added that most applications are quite difficult due to differing guidelines set by the various local authorities in their respective areas.
“Applications are easier with guidelines but still adhere to regulations for safety. Selangor aims to use a friendlier approach as every application involves high costs,” Anfaal said.
Impak Selangor is managed by Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) to assist unregistered caregivers, particularly those at home, to obtain licenses before they can receive training.
