MSN Selangor allocates RM2.4 mln to upgrade fields, sports courts

By Amin Ridzuan Ishak

SHAH ALAM, July 3 — The Selangor State Sports Council (MSNS) is focused on repairing about 50 children’s playgrounds and sports courts involving an allocation of RM2.4 million this year.

MSNS executive director Mohd Nizam Marjugi said the state government had approved the fund to provide comfort for the people in the state to conduct sports and recreational activities.

He said the facilities located at subdistricts and in all state constituencies include football fields, futsal courts, sepak takraw courts, basketball courts and children’s playgrounds.

“We hope to complete 50 repair works this year, but it depends on developments of the movement control order (MCO),” he said.

Mohd Nizam said he hoped the federal government would give permission to MSNS to carry out projects under its approval, similar to work allowed under the local authority (PBT).

“Right now, no work could be done because there is no permission and it is not included under essential services (for MCO).

“But these projects need to be allowed because some of it is now dilapidated structures that pose danger to residents, for example, there is a futsal court fencing in a state of near collapse, if not repaired, it will dangerous for anyone to go through it,” he said.
