SHAH ALAM, March 16 — The Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI is committed to supporting the arts and culture of the state.
Its Corporate Social Responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the department involved has provided provisions to make such activities in Selangor a success.
“We at MBI have established a strategic partnership with the Malaysian Drug Prevention Association (Pemadam) Selangor since its chairman is also the chairman of MBI as well as the Menteri Besar of Selangor Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
“For this programme, we have helped in terms of funds, apart from CSR programmes organised by MBI, we do have programmes for arts and cultural activities.
“Therefore, through cooperation with the Selangor Fire Department, we support any campaigns carrying anti-drug messages through theatre, arts or culture events and other advocacy programmes,” he said during the Dari Cherok Tok Kun Ke Putrajaya theatre press conference at the Bangunan Darul Ehsan, here yesterday.
Ahmad Azri said he hopes the theatre performance, which is themed comedy horror against drug abuse, can to attract the public’s interest since it features a line-up of celebrities from the country.
The performance starring the country’s rock queen Ella also features a line-up of comedians including Imuda, Abu Mamu, Caca Raja Lawak and Kumpulan Kiut, who was the winner of the first season of ‘gegar lawak’, will be staged on May 26.
In addition, special appearances by Jo Branko (former Wings guitarist), Jojie (Ella’s older sister), Captain Azhar (Ella’s husband) and Chef Yang Jamil will enliven the performance.
