SHAH ALAM, OCT 4: The State Government will not compromise with any parties, be they individuals or companies, who sabotage and pollute rivers. Dato’ Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said he has instructed the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj), Hulu Langat District and Land Office to be prepared with immediate action including closing factories, revoking licenses and seizing lands. “The monitoring party detected an odour at 11 pm and around 11.40 pm the same odour was detected in Kampung Rinching Hilir. “I had visited the site together with Air Selangor and JAS to take immediate action so that the contamination will not affect users,” Mohamed Azmin twittered. He said they received information earlier that the authorities had traced the culprit for river contamination in Semenyih. “The Selangor Water Management Board (LUAS), MPKj and Air Selangor were at the location since the night of October 3, when the authorities detected the odour. “The state authorities and myself will rush to the location at Batu 22 ¼, Semenyih to chase the perpetrator,” he said. Mohamed Azmin said LUAS had lodged a police report at 2:45 am to investigate the river pollution incident. “State Government urges JAS to be responsible in ensuring that all industrial entities operating by the riverside comply with the law. “Air Selangor and LUAS have been monitoring and patrolling the area for 24 hours since the last two weeks. Where is JAS? “JAS arrived at the location more than 10 hours after Air Selangor and LUAS detected the contamination. Then only they took the water sample! Pathetic!” he said....
